At Aspen Apothecary we make soap in small batches using the cold process method. We keep the best of traditional soap making and add modern techniques and quality ingredients to bring you authentic soap that is moisturizing, long lasting, and smells great.

Each batch of soap starts as a blend of sodium hydroxide (lye), pure water, and vegetable oils selected to impart specific qualities to the finished product. Olive oil creates a moisturizing bar while coconut offers excellent lather. Palm oil makes a firm, long-lasting bar and shea butter adds skin conditioning properties. All of our soaps are “super-fatted” so they are extra moisturizing and mild against your skin. Each batch is cured for several weeks resulting in a firm, long-lasting bar of soap.

To each batch of soap we add essential oils and/or fragrance oils for a variety of wonderful scents. The fragrance will be mild when the bar is dry but will become stronger as the bar is moistened for use. Many of our soaps also contain ground herbs, oatmeal, or other natural ingredients for color and gentle exfoliation.

While many handmade soaps are poured into large box molds and then chopped into boring rectangles, we take the extra step of using individual molds to create designer shaped soaps that fit nicely in your hand.
